Chris Brown
Musical Director

Chris Brown became musical director of Fakenham Choral Society in January 2011. He has lived, breathed and loved choral music for as long as he can remember. Chris has packed a remarkably large measure of music making into his busy life. He has rapidly become a key figure in the musical life of Fakenham, teaching, performing and leading with mature confidence in a diverse range of roles.

Chris, by some way the youngest musical director ever to be appointed by the Fakenham Choral Society, has brought great energy and a strong work ethic to his new post. Born in Peterborough, he has been steeped in choral music since early childhood. He first became a church organist and choirmaster while still studying for his A-levels at The King's School, Peterborough, and gained a music scholarship at Peterborough Cathedral.

Later, as an undergraduate at Huddersfield University, he became Organ Scholar and tenor lay clerk at Wakefield Cathedral, where he played when the Queen visited for the Royal Maundy Service in 2005.

Chris has been teaching music for the past four years at Fakenham High School, where he runs the choir, the jazz band and string ensemble.

He is organist and choirmaster at Fakenham Parish Church and also acts as rehearsal conductor, and percussionist, with Fakenham Town Band.
